Pharma

  •  Brand Manager

A pharmaceutical company, or drug company, is a commercial business licensed to research, develop, market and/or distribute drugs, most commonly in the context of healthcare.

They're subject to a variety of laws and regulations regarding the patenting, testing and marketing of drugs, particularly prescription drugs.

Biopharma is broken down further into these sub-categories:

  1. Pharmaceutical Manufacturers: Pharmaceutical manufacturing is the process of industrial-scale synthesis of pharmaceutical drugs as part of the pharmaceutical industry. The process of drug manufacturing can be broken down into a series of unit operations, such as milling, granulation, coating, tablet pressing and others.
  2. Biotechnology Manufacturers: The manufacturing process in biotechnology refers to all manufacturing and storage steps in the creation of the finished product from the weighing of components through the storing, packaging and labeling of the finished product, including, but not limited to: mixing, granulating, milling, molding, formulating, lyophilizing, tableting, encapsulating, coating, sterilizing and filling.
  3. Medical Device Manufacturers: Medical device manufacturers facilitate the lives of doctors and patients by providing cutting-edge technology solutions. The growing prevalence of chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes is the driving force behind increasing innovation in medical technology, from surgical instruments and orthopedics to diagnostics and medical imaging. Medical device manufacturing includes all aspects of the fabrication of a medical device, from designing a manufacturing process to scale up to ongoing process improvements. It also includes the sterilization and packaging of a device for shipment.
  4. Large pharma: Through commercialization services, we partner with large biopharma companies to provide excellent customer service, deliver end-to-end solutions and support growth of any product or product line for any therapeutic area.
  5. Small-to-medium pharma: Through commercialization, we partner with emerging biopharma companies to provide the security, breadth and depth of expertise of a large, established company with the agility, flexibility and dedication of a small one.
  6. Oncology biopharma: Through commercialization, we partner with biopharma companies to evolve with the diverse and always-changing oncology landscape, bringing both expertise across the oncology spectrum and the ability to innovate to bring new therapies to market.

A pharmacy can be a retail store that dispenses FDA-approved prescription medications as well as over-the-counter remedies that don't require a prescription. But it also includes digital and specialty pharmacies.

Digital pharmacies can act much like a drug-dispensing pharmacy, but they can also provide telehealth services, home delivery or medication management via an app or web interface. Specialty pharmacies focus on high-cost, high-touch medication therapy for patients with complex disease states," according to the American Pharmacists Association. "Medications in specialty pharmacy range from oral to cutting edge injectable and biologic products."

Pharmacists are medication experts and play a critical role in helping people get the best results from their medications. Pharmacists prepare and dispense prescriptions, ensure medicines and doses are correct, prevent harmful drug interactions and counsel patients on the safe and appropriate use of their medications.

Patients

NB: We don’t speak directly to patients since they don’t use our platform.

A patient is any recipient of healthcare services that are performed by healthcare professionals. The patient is most often ill or injured and in need of treatment by a physician, nurse, psychologist, dentist, veterinarian, or other healthcare provider.

Patient responsibility is the portion of a medical bill that the patient is required to pay rather than their insurance provider. For example, patients with no health insurance are responsible for 100% of their medical bills.
